Man sentenced for plotting assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin appeals to Russian President for pardoning

Ilya Pyanzin, a citizen of Kazakhstan, who since 2013 is serving his sentence in a penal colony in the Samara Region for plotting an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin, has addressed the Russian President with an appeal to pardon him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ilya Pyanzin was detained in Odessa after an explosion on January 4, 2012, in one of the apartments, in which Ruslan Madaev, a native of Chechnya, was killed. Ilya Pyanzin said that he took part in plotting an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin, who was then the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. On September 10, 2013, Ilya Pyanzin was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.

The "Kommersant" reports that according to Ilya Pyanzin, he did not want to do anything bad against Vladimir Putin and explained his involvement in the plot as an accident. The man said that he fell under the influence of his friends and did not know about their plans, and when he learned what they were plotting, it was too late to retreat.

According to Marina Pyanzina, the wife of the sentenced man, the appeal was filed to the penal colony administration in May, and it took two months to verify the appeal.

"For two times, I tried to address Vladimir Putin through the 'direct line.' I wanted to tell him how hard it was for me to bring up our children without the husband's help and in addition to regularly bring transfers to Samara. However, I failed to address the Russian President," the woman said as quoted by the "Kommersant".
