Advocates in Boris Nemtsov's murder case to challenge the verdict

Advocates intend to appeal against the decision of the court, which sentenced defendants in the case on the Boris Nemtsov's murder to long terms of imprisonment. Till present, representatives of the victim party and public prosecutors have not yet decided on the plans concerning the verdict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, in the case on the Boris Nemtsov's murder, the court sentenced five defendants to 11-20 years of imprisonment. Zaur Dadaev, whom investigators treat as a killer of Boris Nemtsov, was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in a penal colony. Public prosecutor requested to sentence Zaur Dadaev to life imprisonment.

Anna Byuarchieva, a defender of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, treats the verdict as unfair "especially in relation to Eskerkhanov and Bakhaev, the evidence of whose innocence was presented."

Shamudin Tsakaev, an advocate of Zaur Dadaev, believes the verdict was pronounced in violations of the law, in particular, the right to defence. According to the advocate, the defence will challenge the verdict, including, if necessary, filing an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

Vadim Prokhorov, and advocate of the victim party, claimed that the court did not punish all the persons guilty of the murder. "The organizers and the persons who ordered the murder had not been identified. Investigators should look for them among subordinates of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov," noted the advocate.

According to Vadim Prokhorov, the advocates of the Nemtsov family members still treat the Bakhaev's involvement in the crime as not proven.
