Tumsu Abdurakhmanov does not disclose place of his detention

Blogger Tumsu Abdurakhmanov, a native of Grozny, has informed journalist Zviad Mchedlishvili that he was detained in one of the countries he went to from Georgia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 17, Tumsu Abdurakhmanov, who was put on the federal wanted list in Russia, reported to the "Kavkaz. Realii" about his detention in Tbilisi. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has not confirmed the information about the Tumsu Abdurakhmanov's detention.

Tumsu Abdurakhmanov states that he had to flee to Georgia in 2015. He associates the criminal proceedings against him in Russia with his conflict with a top-ranking official, a relative of the Chechen leader. According to Tumsu Abdurakhmanov, he had to leave Chechnya for Georgia "after threats voiced by a top-ranking official, one of the Ramzan Kadyrov's relatives" and "fabrication of a criminal case against him on involvement in foreign illegal armed formations (IAFs) in Syria."

Zviad Mchedlishvili, a journalist of the "Nowadays" TV Channel, has learned about the detention of Tumsu Abdurakhmanov from himself.

"I contacted him (Tumsu Abdurakhmanov) after he reported about his detention, and he himself confirmed to me that he was detained not in Georgia. However, he still refuses to disclose the country of his detention. The matter is that journalists initially misinterpreted his statement in an audio message about his detention, since he did not say where he was detained, and reported his detention in Tbilisi," Zviad Mchedlishvili told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

  • Analysts assess Dagestani head’s statement on appeals of SMO fighters

The appeals of the participants of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from Dagestan to republic’s authorities are caused by many local problems and remain one of the ways to attract officials’ attention. Despite the statement by the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, that the combatants record their appeals as a result of "manipulations," he will have to respond to them, analysts believe.
