Wife of Chechen native detained in Italy denied his involvement in IS

Maryam Kachmazova, a 49-year-old native of North Ossetia, who was deported from Italy, has stated that the charges of terrorism put forward against her and her husband, the 38-year-old Ali Bambataliev, had been fabricated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early July, law enforcers of the Italian region of Puglia arrested a 38-year-old native from Chechnya, suspected of attacking power agents in Grozny in December 2014.

On December 4, 2014, members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) organized an attack on law enforcers in Grozny. A counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the centre of the city. As a result of the armed clashes in the Grozny Press House and the secondary school No. 20, where law enforcers blocked members of the armed underground, 14 law enforcers, 10 militants, and two civilians were killed.

According to the Italian Prosecutor's Office, Bambataliev "had planned a series of terror acts and wanted to involve his wife Maryam Kachmazova in them; then, Maryam was extradited to Russia for national security reasons."

Maryam Kachmazova herself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she "had learned about the charges of preparing a terror act from Italian media."

"Since July 7, I am in the territory of Russia. I was detained in Italy on July 5, and on July 6, I was convoyed to Moscow, because my stay in Italy had expired. Now, I'm in North Ossetia," said Maryam Kachmazova.

"This case was fabricated... I want to achieve truth and fair attitude. I disagree with the charges put forward against me and my husband by the Italian Prosecutor's Office; it's absurd to accuse us of plotting a terror act," Ms Kachmazova has added.
