Four figurants of "Nardaran case" placed to dungeon

Fuad Gakhramanly, Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the "Muslim Unity", and Abbas Guseinov and Ali Nuriev, two other persons sentenced in the "Nardaran case", are placed to a punishment cell.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 20, the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) upheld the verdict in the case of the riots in the Nardaran village. According to advocate Fariz Namazly, that provoked the indignation of the defendants, and they began to "throw shoes and plastic bottles of water in direction of the judges."

On June 25, the defendants in the case were sentenced to 10-20 years of imprisonment.

The information about the placement of the sentenced men to the detention centre was reported by relatives of the defendants. The measure was used against the defendants after they expressed their dissatisfaction with the actions of the judge, who did not give them the opportunity to speak out, the "contact.az" reports.

According to Ogtai Gyulyalyev, the leader of the Public Alliance "Azerbaijan without Political Prisoners", the "Nardaran case" will become a part of the history of the Azerbaijani justice as a "black spot."

Let us remind you that in November 2015, during a special operation in the village of Nardaran, seven persons were killed, including two law enforcers.

Earlier, the human rights organization "Amnesty International" (AI) has called on the Azerbaijani authorities to review the defendants' cases.
