HRC "Memorial": 13 Chechnya residents from "execution list" detained by law enforcers

Power agents have detained 13 residents of Chechnya from the so-called "execution list", published by the Novaya Gazeta in the article on extrajudicial executions. Relatives know nothing about their fate, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported with reference to the paper that at night on January 26, at least 27 people were executed on suspicion of committing the attack on policemen in Grozny on December 17, 2016. Djambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information of Chechnya, has called this information a lie.

Rights defender have noted that the power agents ignore the fate of three persons, who disappeared in Grozny last December - Askhab Yusupov, Ismali Bergoev (Bergaev) and Madina Shakhbieva. The names of Bergaev and Yusupov were on the "execution list".

According to rights defenders, in early February, Sajd-Ramzan Abdulkerimov was also detained in Chechnya. This summer, his relatives were informed that he "had died of a heart attack."

On January 9 and 10, Mokhma (Makhma) Muskiev, Ismail Soltakhmadov and Shamkhan Yusupov were also detained. Their relatives know nothing about their fate, the HRC "Memorial" reports.

Rights defenders mention four more persons from the above list, whose fate is unknown. According to their version, in January, Akhmed Tuchaev, Adam Dasaev, Islam Alimkhanov and Adam Ilyasov were detained. Adam Dasaev is a cousin of Imran Dasaev, detained on January 14. The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has stated that Imran Dasaev had links with the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia, and killed a policeman.

Rights defendants have stressed that the information about the detention of 13 people "is indirectly confirming the Novaya Gazeta’s reports about extrajudicial executions."
