Islamic stores inspected in three Chechen districts

On August 3 and 4, law enforcers carried out raids to inspect stores and stalls selling Islamic goods and located in the villages and towns of the Achkhoi-Martan, Urus-Martan and Sunzha Districts. Officials from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the conducted raids revealed no violations related to the sale of banned literature and other materials of an extremist nature.

"The reason for conducting periodic inspections of stores selling Islamic goods is in the fact that the federal list of extremist materials prohibited for dissemination is constantly expanded. So, there is a need to monitor the situation," explained a prosecutor.

Owners of trading points selling Islamic goods have noted to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that such raids are conducted regularly. "Yesterday, our store was subjected to an inspection, which involved the district kadi, prosecutors, and local policemen. They were interested to check the availability of Islamic books prohibited by federal laws and of video and audio goods of extremist nature, how they say. Everything is all right at our store, since we already got an experience. In other stores, as far as I know, everything was also all right," said Akhmad, an owner of a store in the city of Urus-Martan.
