Sochi women sentenced for high treasury released

Sochi residents Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava, sentenced for sending SMS-messages to Georgia and pardoned by the Russian President, have decided to achieve the cancellation of the verdicts. This was stated by Annik Kesyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 28, Vladimir Putin signed decrees to pardon Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava, sentenced on charges of high treason after in 2008 they sent SMS-messages to Georgia about transportation of military vehicles to Abkhazia. The women will be released in ten days. However, so far, their defence has filed complaints to the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia with requests to cancel the verdicts, reported an advocate of the sentenced Sochi residents.

On May 19, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" recognized as political prisoners Annik Kesyan, Marina Djandjgava and Inga Tutisani, a resident of Sochi, also sentenced for sending an SMS to her Georgian acquaintance about the movements of military vehicles.

According to Annik Kesyan, she would like Inga Titusani to be also released, the "Interfax" reports.

It should be noted that on August 4, the "Team 29," which advocates represented the interests of Annik Kesyan and Marina Djandjgava, reported on the preparation of complaints to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) about violations of those women's rights. According to the "Team 29" information as of August 4, Inga Tutisani still stays in a penal colony in Vologda, and no decision on her pardon has yet been made.
