Novorossiysk Mayor's Office refuses to sanction LGBT actions

The authorities of Novorossiysk have not allowed Nikolai Alekseev, a founder of the Moscow gay parade, to hold rallies and marches to prevent the LGBT propaganda among minors. This has been reported today by the city administration.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nikolai Alekseev, a founder of the Moscow gay parade, filed notifications to hold rallies and marches in support of the LGBT community in five cities of the Krasnodar Territory in early September. The authorities of Gelendzhik, Anapa, Tuapse, and Sochi refused to sanction the LGBT actions.

On August 22, the Mayor's Office of Novorossiysk was notified about two rallies and marches to be held on September 3, the press service for the city administration confirmed. "Their goal is to call for amendments to the Family Code of the Russian Federation aimed at the legislative recognition of the right of persons to marry the same sex, as well as at support of tolerant attitude towards gender minorities," the press service of the city administration reported in response to a request from the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The authorities have refused to sanction the actions and justified the refusal by Part 1 of Article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors). "The applicant refused to receive a response to his hands," noted the Mayor's Office of Novorossiysk in its response dated August 29.

  • Analysts assess Dagestani head’s statement on appeals of SMO fighters

The appeals of the participants of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from Dagestan to republic’s authorities are caused by many local problems and remain one of the ways to attract officials’ attention.
