"Kommersant": IS militants confess to plotting massacre in Makhachkala
Natives of Dagestan detained in Moscow and Makhachkala were plotting attacks on participants of the World Festival of Youth and Students, reported a source.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 13 and 14, four natives of Dagestan were detained in Moscow and Makhachkala. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), they confessed to be members of a dormant unit of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia. The detainees also confessed that they were plotting terror acts in Dagestan, attempts on law enforcers and soldiers.
Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found by law enforcers in hidings were intended to commit explosions during the programme of the World Festival of Youth and Students, 50 participants of which arrived for four days in Makhachkala on October 14, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to a source.
According to the source's information, the detainees, including Khidirnabi Kazuev and Samir Ibragimov, were also plotting knife attacks on festival participants.
