Sochi activist arrested for making photo near Navalny's office

The court has recognized making a photo with a balloon as holding an unsanctioned picket and sentenced Olesya Khristosenko to eight days of administrative arrest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 13, activist Olesya Khristosenko was detained for making a photo on the porch of the Navalny's office.

Out of eight days of administrative arrest, to which Olesya Khristosenko has been sentenced by the court as a punishment, the activist will serve seven days, since she has already spent one night at the police station. This was explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Alexander Popkov, an advocate of Olesya Khristosenko. "The court's decision is illegal and will be challenged, since the Olesya Khristosenko's actions do not contain any offense components," the advocate has stated. He has noted that the photo which provoked the arrest was made on October 7 and published in a social network.

Olesya Khristosenko has pleaded not guilty. "Making a photo with a balloon does not fall under the signs of a mass event. And why if I want to make a picture, which will take no more than 10 seconds, should I notify the city administration and coordinate it as a public action? Especially if the photo was taken in the private territory," the activist told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
