Resident of Dagestan accused of customized blood feud killing

The Prosecutor's Office has stated that the man, hired by a Dagestani woman to commit a blood feud murder, shot dead a man in the village of Charavali.

The Supreme Court of Dagestan will consider the case of a hired murder, committed by a group of persons on the blood feud grounds. The accused man has been also charged with illegal arms circulation; he may face from 8 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The custom of blood feud is partly preserved in all the republics of Northern Caucasus; in Dagestan this it is mostly prevalent in mountainous districts.

According to investigators, on March 21, 2013, the defendant made at least seven shots at the casualty in the village of Charavali, Kumtorkalin District, the website of the Prosecutor's Office reports.
