A brother of Grozny Mayor heads Achkhoi-Martan District

On November 1, Tamerlan Khuchiev, the adviser to the leader of Chechnya, was appointed the acting head of the administration for the Achkhoi-Martan District, a large district of the Chechen Republic. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the administration for the leader and government of Chechnya.

According to the official, since 2006, Tamerlan Khuchiev worked as the executive director for the regional public foundation named after Akhmat Kadyrov and the advisor to the leader of Chechnya. Muslim Khuchiev, a brother of Tamerlan Khuchiev, is the Mayor of Grozny.

Local observers believe the Tamerlan Khuchiev's appointment is a continuation of the Ramzan Kadyrov's policy to appoint to key positions the people from the number of his subordinates.

"For several years already, the leader of the republic applies the practice of appointing to key positions his relatives or persons from his environment," noted Aslan, a member of a local NGO.

Earlier, on October 9, Idris Cherkhigov, a 28-year-old nephew of Ramzan Kadyrov, was appointed the chief of the GIBDD (road police) Department for Chechnya. According to a local NGO leader's story, Idris Cherkhigov "has never work even for a day at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA)."
