Sobchak argued with Kadyrov about Lenin's body

Ksenia Sobchak has objected to Ramzan Kadyrov in her comment on his statement about the burial of Lenin's body.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kadyrov had called on to remove the body of Vladimir Lenin from the Red Square and bury him. At the same time, the head of Chechnya stressed that only President Vladimir Putin should decide on this issue.

A few days after Kadyrov's statement, Ksenia Sobchak expressed her position on the burial of Lenin's body. The TV presenter, who had announced her plans to run for the Russian presidency in 2018, has promised that in the event of her victory at the election to remove Lenin's body from the Red Square.

"It's not Putin who should decide, Ramzan Akhmatovich, it's up to the Russian people to decide on this issue at free elections and referendums," Ms Sobchak wrote in her Instagram.

She reminded that in March 2018, the people of Russia should decide who will become the country's president. "And if not you and not Putin will decide this instead of my people, then – perhaps – we still have a chance to return to the civilized world," Ksenia wrote.

The Kremlin does not consider the issue of Lenin body's burial, said Dmitry Peskov, the presidential press secretary.

  • Analysts assess Dagestani head’s statement on appeals of SMO fighters

The appeals of the participants of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from Dagestan to republic’s authorities are caused by many local problems and remain one of the ways to attract officials’ attention.
