Attack on Ingush road police block post is first suicide bombing in North Caucasus for 1.5 years

In Ingushetia, the suicide bombing committed at a road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) block post in the Nazran District is the only one such incident in 2017 and the third one during the past two years.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on November 5, a group of militants attacked the DPS block post near the village of Yandare in Ingushetia. One suspect committed a suicide bombing in a room of the DPS block post, while the others initiated an armed clash with law enforcers. Two policemen died of wounds they got in the explosion. The National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported about two militants killed in the armed clash.

According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", during the past two years, three cases of suicide bombing occurred in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). The last such incident occurred in Chechnya on May 9, 2016, when a suicide bomber activated an explosive device at a block post in Grozny.

On April 11, 2016, three suicide bombers committed an act of suicide bombing near the ROVD (Interior Division) building in the village of Novoselitskoe in the Stavropol Territory.

On February 15, 2016, a suicide bomber blew up a car near the Djemikent checkpoint of the road police (known as GIBDD). Two policemen and a suicide bomber were killed, and other 14 people were wounded, including eight soldiers and six civilians.
