In Karabulak, police conduct raids after militants' attack on DPS block post

In the town of Karabulak, law enforcers carried out raids in search of suspects involved in the attack on a road-and-patrol (known as DPS) block post. Rights defender Magomed Mutsolgov has treated those law enforcers' actions as senseless and ungrounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on November 5, the DPS block post near the village of Yandare was attacked. One militant committed suicide bombing killing two policemen. Other militants opened a shootout with policemen; and two militants were shot dead. The Nazran District was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime.

This morning, armoured vehicles appeared in the streets of Karabulak, and law enforcers began to conduct raids. This was reported by Magomed Mutsolgov, the leader of the Ingush human rights organization "Mashr", an author of a blog at the "Caucasian Knot".

"Moving along the streets, the law enforcers entered every house and checked residents' passports. The law enforcers demanded from owners of households to produce passports of all the people who stayed in the houses. Besides, they also checked documents for registration of cars," Magomed Mutsolgov wrote in his post "Following the explosion at the DPS block post".

The rights defender has emphasized he treats the actions carried out by the law enforcement agencies as "not only illegal, but also senseless." "From year to year, rights defenders, lawyers, public figures, and politicians insist that we need to fight not against the consequences of the tragedies that occurred, but against the reasons which provoked those tragedies," said Magomed Mutsolgov.
