FSB releases video with detention of suspected "Artpodgotovka"* members

The FSB has released a video with detentions of suspected members of the banned extremist movement "Artpodgotovka"* (Artillery Preparation). The detentions were also carried out in Southern Russia. According to the law enforcement agencies, one of the detainees confessed to plotting "revolutionary actions", while another said activists were preparing fireworks.

The video, released today by the FSB, shows the moments when law enforcers were detaining suspected members of the "Artpodgotovka"* in different places. Some scenes show how law enforcers break open a door to an apartment, while others show how they enter an apartment on the first floor of a high-rise building after an explosion took place inside. In another place, law enforcers detain a person by putting him on the ground face down.

The video also shows knives and stickers of "Artpodgotovka"* and other items described by a person off screen as "improvised firecrackers, explosive devices, and a gas cartridge."

According to the law enforcement agencies, one of the detainees explained they needed all those items to "make pyrotechnics." Another detainee said he "intended to leave to take part in revolutionary actions against the current regime," the RIA "Novosti" reports today.

*The movement "Artpodgotovka" has been found to be extremist by the court; and its activities are banned in Russia.
