Earthquake on Iranian-Iraqi border felt by Azerbaijanis
On November 12, a powerful earthquake of 7.6 magnitude occurred on the Iranian-Iraqi border. Residents of the Azerbaijani cities of Nakhichevan and Lenkoran felt the shocks.
According to preliminary data, the earthquake killed 93 people. Underground shocks were recorded 204 kilometres north-east of Baghdad and 104 kilometres west of the Iranian city of Kermanshakh. The earthquake focal point was at the depth of 10 kilometres, the "Sputnik-Azerbaijan" reports.
The "Trend" adds that shocks were felt in Azerbaijan, in particular, in Nakhichevan and Lankaran. There is no information about any victims or destructions in Azerbaijan.
According to the "Yandex.Maps" service, Nakhichevan is 560 kilometres, and Lenkoran – 515 kilometres off Kermanshakh.
