Saakashvili's companion detained on Ukrainian border

Vano Nadiradze, deported to Georgia on November 17, was detained while trying to illegally enter Ukraine, the Ukrainian Frontier Service has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 17, Ukraine expelled eight Georgian citizens, among them Vano Nadiradze, a Georgian volunteer who fought in the antiterrorist operation (ATO) area.

The Ukrainian Security Service (known as SBU) explained that the activities of the Georgian citizens, deported from the country, were contrary to the interests of Ukraine's national security. However, Mikhail Saakashvili, a former Georgian president, has linked their extradition with his opposition activities in Ukraine.

His supporter Vano Nadiradze was detained this morning by Moldovan border guards, when he tried to illegally get to Ukraine, the RIA "Novosti" has reported with reference to the Ukrainian Frontier Service. Vano Nadiradze, 47, was detained 20 meters from the border with Ukraine. "Law enforcement bodies of Moldova have opened a criminal case on the incident. Now, investigation is underway; then, the case will be sent to the court," says the official page of the Ukrainian Frontier Service on the Facebook.

  • Analysts assess Dagestani head’s statement on appeals of SMO fighters

The appeals of the participants of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from Dagestan to republic’s authorities are caused by many local problems and remain one of the ways to attract officials’ attention.
