Andrei Rudomakha put under state protection after attack on him

Investigators have granted a motion to grant state protection for Andrei Rudomakha, a coordinator of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), who received anonymous threats after he had been beaten in Krasnodar. This was reported by his advocate. The activist himself claimed he felt bad.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28, 2017, unidentified persons attacked Andrei Rudomakha, a coordinator of the "EcoWatch", and his companions. Andrei Rudomakha was hospitalized. After the attack, Andrei Rudomakha and his deputy Dmitry Shevchenko reported receiving anonymous threats. The advocate requested investigators to grant body guards for Andrei Rudomakha.

On January 16, Alexei Avanesyan, an advocate of Andrei Rudomakha, reported that the investigators granted the motion to put his client under state protection.

"Let's see how that will protect the ecologists from further threats and aggression," wrote Alexei Avanesyan on his Facebook page.

The advocate has refused to explain which measures of state protection were granted to Andrei Rudomakha.
