Daliev's sister awarded by Ingush rights defenders

Today, the "Mashr" Ingush human rights organization has given diplomas to laureates of its contest "Civil Society Heroes" in seven nominations. One of the laureates is the sister of Magomed Daliev, who died during interrogation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July 2016, 50-year-old Magomed Daliev, suspected of robbing the branch of the "Rosselkhozbank" in the city of Sunzha, died during interrogation. His wife Marem Tochieva complained that she had been beaten by law enforcers and tortured. The death of Magomed Daliev got great public response.

The awarding ceremony was held on January 18 in Karabulak, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The ceremony was attended by activists of the NGOs, well-known both in Ingushetia and beyond. At the same time, as it was stated during the ceremony, representatives of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" could not come to the event, because of the arson of its office and related troubles.

Pyatimat Dalieva, a sister of Magomed Daliev, said that she "took part in such a contest for the first time," and noted that "participation in the contest is important for me personally, as it helps to achieve justice in my brother's death. The motive for my presence at this contest is to call on people not to remain silent. The more we remain silent, the more we will be terrorized. We must not keep silent," Pyatimat told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
