Dagestani woman sentenced to 12 years in prison after her return from Iraq

In Khasavyurt, the court has sentenced Naida Shaikh-Akhmedova, returned from Iraq to Grozny in the autumn of 2017, to 12 years of imprisonment, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 14, Ziyad Sabsabi, who represents the Chechen Parliament in the Federation Council, reported that 93 Russian citizens were returned from the Middle East. The authorities use the return of people from Syria and Iraq for the propaganda purposes, residents of Chechnya suggest.

According to the authorities of Chechnya, Chechen women returned from Syria were interviewed by law enforcers and then set free. Meanwhile, it was reported that some of the women had been detained and taken into custody in Dagestan.

In 2014, Naida Shaikh-Akhmedova arrived in Turkey, and then she moved from there to Syria. There, according to investigators, she joined the "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia and aided and abetted militants.
