Journalists voice scepticism about video with luxury items in Dagestani officials' houses
Reports about the wealth of detained officials and a gold pistol found at the Abdusamid Gamidov's house are a traditional way to attract public attention to the activities of investigators. This opinion was voiced by journalists interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 6, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) released a video, showing numerous luxury items in the houses of Dagestani officials. On February 10, Russian General Prosecutor Yuri Chaika instructed his subordinates to verify the expenses of the Dagestani officials and the legality of the construction of their houses.
The release of the video records made in the Dagestani officials' houses may be an attempt to influence the public opinion. This suggestion was voiced by Magomed Magomedov, a political analyst of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft).
"The Investigating Committee expects that the society will positively assess their actions," Magomed Magomedov explained.
Gadjimurad Sagitov, the editor-in-chief of the "Novoe Delo", has called the release for the results of the searches in the Dagestani officials' houses the traditional actions of the investigating bodies.
"And it is typical not only for Dagestan, but also for other regions. Meanwhile, many people also began to ask the law enforcement bodies themselves concerning where they looked earlier and why they allowed such a situation," Gadjimurad Sagitov has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
