Prosecutor demands 9.5 years in prison for Zagidat Abakarova

At today's session of the Sovietsky District Court of Makhachkala, Zagidat Abakarova gave testimony, in which she stated that she had not participated in any warfare, and had not held any weapons in her hands.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zagidat Abakarova, who had signed a confession before her voluntary return from Syria, was taken into custody in Makhachkala on October 24, despite her breastfed baby.

"When I arrived there [in Syria], I immediately asked my husband to send me back, because I was afraid to stay there," Zagidat Abakarova said, adding that her husband threatened to take her children away from; and her several attempts to run away with them failed.

"My participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF) was that I was cooking, washing clothes, maintaining comfort and cleanliness, and sewing clothes from time to time. I performed all the above functions both for the husband and for other IAF members," she said.

During the debate, the state prosecutor asked for 9.5 years of imprisonment for Abakarova in a general security colony with a further freedom restriction for one year, stating the she has pled guilty.

Abakarova's advocate asked the court for a softer punishment, stating that she has breastfed babies and had signed a confession.
