Sadygly's brother detained in Baku

In Azerbaijan, the police have detained Elgiz Sadygly, a brother of the activist Turad Sadygly. Then, the court appointed an administrative arrest for 30 days for Elgiz.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that activists Tural Sadygly and Ordukhan Temirkhan, who live in Europe, complained about detention of their relatives in Azerbaijan.

Alovsat Sadygly, the brothers' father, said that on February 18, policemen began monitoring their house in search for his second son, Elgiz.

The parents were not informed for what specific offense Elgiz was arrested. His father believes that his son is persecuted because of political activities of his brother Tural. "But Elgiz is not responsible for his brother. He is not interested in politics at all," said Alovsat Sadygly, the father.

Alovsat Sadygly, an ex-member of the "Musavat" Party and now the editor of the "Free Word" portal, and his son Elgiz Sadygly were detained on February 13, 2015, in Azerbaijan on suspicion of disobedience to policemen and drug possession. The court decided to release Alovsat Sadygly, but Elgiz Sadygly was placed under house arrest.
