Rostov townspeople demand to commemorate Nemtsov's memory in their city
Today, in Rostov-on-Don, a rally in memory of the politician Boris Nemtsov attracted about 100 persons.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that actions in memory of Nemtsov were held today in many cities of Russia. In Moscow, about 30,000 people took part in the memory march; a small rally in the Hyde Park took place in Astrakhan; and about fifty people participated in a rally in memory of Nemtsov in Volgograd.
Boris Nemtsov was shot dead on February 27, 2015, in Moscow. On July 13, 2017, the court sentenced five natives of Chechnya, accused of killing Boris Nemtsov.
Participants in the rally in Rostov-on-Don held posters: "Boris Nemtsov, we remember", "The customer not found?", "Killed for freedom"; many held colour photos with quotes of the murdered politician in their hands.
The resolution adopted by the rally expresses protest against violations of citizens' rights and freedoms by state authorities and power structures, and speaks in favour of fair, competitive elections and independence of the courts and mass media. The participants demanded to continue the inquiry into the murder of Boris Nemtsov, to find and bring to justice all the customers and organizers.
Besides, activists have appealed to the Rostov-on-Don administration asking to install a commemorative plaque on the Gorky Theatre building – the venue where the last public meeting of Boris Nemtsov with townspeople took place in 2007.
