Armenian political analysts are sceptical about opposition's potentials

The opposition of Armenia is unlikely to achieve mass protests, because the society is apathetic and disappointed in politics, Armenian experts told the "Caucasian Knot" in their comments on the protest rally held in Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10, about 300 people gathered at a rally in Yerevan with a demand to remove Serzh Sargsyan from power, and release political prisoners.

"Disappointment in the fight through rallies is deeply rooted in the Armenian society. It's difficult to imagine that protest actions may acquire a massive character, since the agenda suggested by the opposition is unlikely to find support in the society," Boris Navasardyan, the head of the Yerevan Press Club, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In his opinion, the chances for the rally struggle will grow, if Armenia faces serious social problems or real threats to the country's security.

The protest agenda in the Armenian society is not very relevant, Grant Mikaelyan, a political scientist, has agreed.

He believes that the opposition is in search of a new agenda; and the parliamentary bloc "Elk", which tries to act within a more or less legitimate framework, is the closest thereto.

"However, they also haven't found it yet. If the protest agenda had been in demand, the 'Elk' bloc would have gathered thousands at their latest protest actions," Mr Mikaelyan has stressed.
