Relatives and fellow villagers support Murtazali Gasanguseinov's action
About 30 relatives and fellow villagers of Gasanguseinov brothers-shepherds, who were killed in the Dagestani village of Goor-Khindakh, Shamil District, went out to an unsanctioned rally in Makhachkala and demanded a meeting with Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting head of the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 1, Murtazali Gasanguseinov the father of the assassinated brothers, came to a rally with the demand to investigate the murder of his sons, and promised to start a series of solo pickets aiming to achieve justice.
Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov were killed on August 24, 2016. Law enforcers declared them to be militants, who opened automatic fire at policemen. The casualties' fellow villagers demanded to punish those responsible for their murder, asserting that the brothers were shepherds and had no relation to the militants.
The today's protest rally began in the square in front of the government of Dagestan in Makhachkala at about 1:30 p.m. The father has come out to the picket together with several relatives; they demanded a meeting with Vladimir Vasiliev, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
In total, about 30 relatives and fellow villagers have joined the protest action, initiated by the parents of the slain brothers.
"We know that Mr Vasiliev will not return our children to us, but let him at least listen to us. We've been waiting for justice for a year and seven months, but it's not there. We are reassured by promises, but we are tired and don't want to wait any longer," the parents have stated at the rally.
