Social network users shocked by idea to forget about terror act in Beslan
Residents of North Ossetia and other regions of Russia offered their help in response to the appeal of Kaspolat Ramonov, an attendant of the memorial to the victims of the terror act in Beslan. He reported that the financing of the memorial had been terminated two years ago and officials suggested forgetting the tragedy.
On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 hostages and kept them in the gym of School No. 1 in Beslan. In total, 334 of them, including 186 children, perished, other 810 persons were injured.
On March 26, on his Facebook page, Kaspolat Ramonov reported that the "City of Angels" memorial had not received financial support from the state for two years already.
As of 2:08 p.m. Moscow time, 189 comments have been left under the Kaspolat Ramonov's post. The commentators unanimously supported the attendant of the memorial.
"It's a shock. What does it mean it is enough to remember? We have swallowed a lot, but this is the case when we are simply not allowed to keep silence! Why did they stop financing the memorial? How can this be? Why all the financial problems fell on the shoulders of one person?" wrote user Kastaliya Kastaliya.
"I am reading that and I feel tears in my eyes. How can anybody try to erase such a national grief in such a short time? Even in Europe, authorities built monuments to the victims "our children", and people lay down flowers to them ... Here, people should hold demonstrations in front of the government house," wrote Evelina Bolataeva.
"Please, write where we can transfer the funds to. I've heard about that man, who lives near the cemetery and cares for the graves of the children. I believe a lot of people will support us, but the authorities of the district and the republic are to resolve the situation," Svetlana Kesaeva wrote.
