Armenian President comes out to protesters

Armen Sargsyan, the incumbent President of Armenia, came to the Republic Square in Yerevan to talk to Nikol Pashinyan, the protest leader.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that protests are held across Armenia against the appointment of Serzh Sargsyan, the former President, to the post of Prime Minister. Today, 102 demonstrators were detained; Serzh Sargsyan has called on Nikol Pashinyan to a dialogue, but the latter has refused to negotiate.

After on April 17 Serzh Sargsyan was elected by the Parliament to the post of the country's Premier, Nikol Pashinyan, an oppositional MP, announced a "peaceful revolution" in the country. Protesters are dissatisfied with the fact that the ex-President has again headed the state, this time as the Prime Minister, which, according to the amended constitution, is figure No. 1 in Armenia.

Armen Sargsyan, the current President, has called on Nikol Pashinyan "to start a dialogue to mitigate the tense situation in the country," to which the protesters' leader replied that "all negotiations must be held in the presence of the people."
