The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 21, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) announced that nine militants were killed in the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Derbent, and one special troop fighter was wounded. According to the NAC, the killed militants had prepared to commit a terror act on the May Day holiday.

According to investigators, on April 21, in Suleiman Stalsky Lane in Derbent, policemen stopped three men to check documents.
