Ingush activists report attempt to disrupt conference on repressed nations
The organizers of the conference "Rehabilitation Law of Repressed Nations: Current Enforcement Problem Status", which has started today in Ingushetia, have accused regional authorities of an attempt to disrupt the event.
The interregional conference, organized by the public movement "Support of Ingushetia" and the NGO "Assistance", is timed to the 27th anniversary of the adoption of the above law. According to the organizers, Ingush authorities prevented the arrival of delegations from other North-Caucasian republics, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
According to Barakh Chemurziev, an activist of the "Support of Ingushetia", today, the delegation of Kabardino-Balkaria of three persons was detained at the entrance to Ingushetia. "Balkars were detained; and we sent an advocate to them," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to the organizers, on April 27, some Ingush officials contacted the delegation from Karachay-Cherkessia by phone and demanded not to participate in the event.
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the Ingush authorities regarding the organizers' statements.
