Vanadzor townspeople wish Pashinyan to defeat corruption

The today's rally of Nikol Pashinyan's supporters in Vanadzor gathered more than 14,000 people, and became one of the largest oppositional rallies in the city's history, local residents and activists report. The participants have expressed hope that in the capacity of Prime Minister Pashinyan will be able to defeat corruption.

Gayane Asryan, a teacher of the regional Lori state college, said that she came to the opposition's rally with faith in a better future for Armenia.

"I believe that together we can bring the case to an end. This is a historic day for all of us," Ms Asryan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Menua Meirabyan, a permanent participant in the opposition's actions in Vanadzor, said that the today's rally in Vanadzor was one of the largest ever in the history of the city.

"With Pashinyan in power, changes are inevitable. Of course, this takes time, but I have no doubt that the country will launch a real fight on corruption, and not an imitation thereof, like it was under Republicans. Under Pashinyan, we'll have justice and a due judicial system. He knows all these problems and I hope he knows how to solve them; I believe in it," the Vanadzor resident told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
