Kadyrov's offer on Putin's three presidential terms brought into State Duma

The bill on three presidential terms in a row for Vladimir Putin, instead of two, which was approved by the Chechen parliament, has been sent to the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, offered to allow one person to hold the Russian presidency not for two, but for three terms in a row, so that Vladimir Putin could be re-elected for a new term in 2024.

Vladimir Putin became the president of Russia for the fourth time by the outcomes of the election held on March 18, 2018. The Kadyrov's amendment to the Constitution will allow Putin to rule until 2030.

The explanatory note to the bill states that "the need to increase the length of one person's tenure in office to three consecutive terms" is caused by "the achieved socio-political stability and the need to preserve it."

"Against the background of a complex external political situation, it is important to preserve the continuity of power," the document says.
