Ramzan Kadyrov does not believe in IS' involvement in attack on Grozny church

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has stated there are no emissaries of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, on the territory of the Chechen Republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 19, militants tried to capture believers in the Church of Archangel Michael in Grozny and as a result, seven persons were killed and two others were wounded. Responsibility for the attempted capture of believers in the Grozny Church was claimed by the Caucasian unit of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia by court's decision.

The leader of Chechnya doubts the involvement of the IS* in the incident. "I'm not saying that its supporters would not give orders for such an inhuman action. However, in this particular case, there is operational information on where the instructions came from and from what quarter the wind blows," the "Interfax" reports with reference to Telegram channel of Ramzan Kadyrov.

The Chechen leader has stated "there are no and there will be no IS* emissaries in Chechnya." "And those who stand behind the events in the Church of Archangel Michael will bear the most severe punishment provided by the law," Ramzan Kadyrov has emphasized.

* IS ("Islamic State", formerly ISIL) is an organization recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia by court's decision.
