Vasiliev promises to continue his fight on corruption

The anti-corruption campaign in Dagestan is the only way to restore people's trust in power, Vladimir Vasiliev said after entering the post of the head of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, 77 out of 86 Deputies of the People's Assembly of Dagestan voted for the candidacy of Vladimir Vasiliev.

"We should continue the course supported by people – elimination of the authorities of corruption and malfeasance, ensuring the safety of budget funds in the interests of people, and efficient use thereof," Mr Vasiliev said after his official taking the post of the head of the republic, the "Interfax" reports.

Speaking to local MPs, he recalled that he had begun "fighting corruption and crime." The amount of damage caused by some of the arrested officials is estimated at billions, he said. "Only by continuing this work we will restore the people's trust in the authorities," said Vladimir Vasiliev as quoted by the TASS.
