CTO in Karabudakhkent and Buynaksk Districts becomes the first one in 2018

In 2018, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime has been introduced in the territories of the Buynaksk and Karabudakhkent Districts of Dagestan for the first time. In those areas, the recent special operation was conducted last year. The CTO legal regime has been introduced for the eighth time this year in the territory of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, law enforcers are conducting a special operation in Dagestan. At 5:00 a.m. Moscow time, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the Buynaksk and Karabudakhkent Districts.

Earlier, a special operation in the Buynaksk and Karabudakhkent Districts was announced on April 20, 2017. The CTO legal regime was lifted on June 13, and no results of the special operation were reported. The previous special operation in the Karabudakhkent District was started in the village of Gubden on December 16, when law enforcers cordoned off a private house and entered a shootout with suspected militants who were hiding in the cordoned-off house. On December 17, the CTO legal regime was lifted after three persons in the house had been killed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during the seventh CTO, which was carried out starting from June 3 in the Tsumada District of Dagestan, law enforcers killed a militant who refused to lay down his arms. He was identified as the leader of the "Tsumada" criminal grouping," the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported. On June 5, the special operation was completed.
