Court sentences Victoria Budaikhanova, native of Dagestan, to five years of conditional imprisonment

The Moscow District Military Court has announced the verdict to Victoria Budaikhanova, a native of Dagestan, accused, after her return from Syria, of links with militants of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to investigators, Victoria Budaikhanova provided medical assistance to the wounded IS militants. The prosecutor asked 8 years in prison for Budaikhanova, while her defence insisted on conditional punishment.

By the decision of the Moscow District Military Court, Budaikhanova was accused of participating in an illegal armed formation (IAF) in the territory of a foreign state.

In Moscow, the girl studied at the architectural college. According to investigators, in 2014, she and her friends went to Turkey, and then moved to Syria, where she joined the ranks of the IS.
