Ingush authorities report about 100 protesters
In Magas, participants of the rally have moved to a new place, the authorities of Ingushetia have reported today. Organizers of the protest action have stated that they will require MPs to resign in the event if they repeatedly vote to change the border with Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a mass protest against changing the Chechen-Ingush border is on in Magas since October 4. Protesters demand a referendum on the border issue and resignation of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, who signed the border agreement with Chechnya. Protesters stay in the square day and night.
The rally participants moved to a place near the NTRC (National TV and Radio Company) "Ingushetia", reported an official from the press service for the Ingush leader. "Up to 100 people take part in it," stated the press officer as quoted by the TASS today.
Last night, Zarifa Sautieva has posted on her Facebook page the video entitled "People are spending the fifth night on the street". The video shows groups of people singing and dancing in the square, as well as women sitting in placed chairs and covered with insulating cloth. Activists with bandages hand out food to women.
In case if during the second voting, the MPs once again approve the agreement on securing the border, then the protest leaders will demand from the MPs to resign their powers, stated Sirazhdin Sultygov, one of the organizers of the rally.
"In any case, we don't intend to tolerate Mr Evkurov as the leader of the republic. But if the MPs fail to listen to our demands, then we will force them to resign too," said Sirazhdin Sultygov as quoted today by the "Kommersant".
