Chechen residents treat employment of scandalous video hero as humiliation
Turpal Khasiev has again publicly apologized for throwing a metal can at a metro passenger in Moscow.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Turpal Khasiev, a native of Chechnya, who threw a can at metro passengers in Moscow shouting "Akhmat is power!" returned from Moscow, where he was looking for work, to Grozny. The young man was immediately employed in the capital of Chechnya: he will clean streets and plant flowers, said Ramzan Kadyrov.
On October 11, a report was screened on air by "Grozny" Chechen State TV and Radio Company (ChGTRK), in which the 20-year-old Turpal Khasiev again made a public apology for his actions. "I made a mistake and disgraced the Chechen people; I apologize to everyone," said Turpal Khasiev.
Residents of Chechnya have treated Turpal Khasiev's employment, and the report of the ChGTRK, as a humiliation of the young man.
"It's just another public humiliation of a man and his relatives, whose actions caused discontent of the republic's head. This is practiced by the authorities not the first year; and this event was expected and predictable," Sultan, an activist of one of Chechen NGOs, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Turpal Khasiev was publicly humiliated with his new job, noted Aminat, a student of one of Chechen high schools. "It's not customary for men here to sweep streets; this is a purely women's job," she explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
