Ingush activists prepare a referendum amid threats from Ramzan Kadyrov

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov believes that the Constitutional Court of Russia recognizes the agreement on the Chechen-Ingush border as legal. He has called the opponents of the border agreement provocateurs, who "must be stopped."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 27, the Constitutional Court of Russia concluded its hearings on the border issue. The decision will be made behind closed doors. On the same day, participants of a rally in Nazran demanded to cancel the border agreement and dismiss Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The leader of Chechnya stated that the disputed lands that after the signing of the border agreement appeared within the borders of Chechnya were Chechen.

Ramzan Kadyrov also again criticized Ingush activists, who participated in rallies against the border agreement and planned to hold a subbotnik (voluntary cleanup work on Saturday) in the border areas.

The Ingush activists are preparing for a referendum and are demanding from MPs to cancel the republican law on the establishment of the borders, said Barakh Chemurziev, the head of the movement "Support of Ingushetia".

The activist has suggested that the Constitutional Court of Russia will probably approve the agreement which was signed by Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov and which undermines the good-neighbourly relations of the Chechen and Ingush people.

  • Analysts assess Dagestani head’s statement on appeals of SMO fighters

The appeals of the participants of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from Dagestan to republic’s authorities are caused by many local problems and remain one of the ways to attract officials’ attention. Despite the statement by the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, that the combatants record their appeals as a result of "manipulations," he will have to respond to them, analysts believe.
