Law enforcers identify men killed in a shootout with law enforcers in Kabardino-Balkaria
Three men killed in a shootout in the Maisky District have been identified as residents of Kabardino-Balkaria who had earlier criminal records; they were plotting attacks on law enforcers and kidnappings, sources reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 29, three men were killed in a shootout with law enforcers in the Maisky District. According to law enforcers, the incident occurred when law enforcers tried to stop a car and the people insides it opened fire. The FSB reported that three religious extremists had been killed and another one had been detained. The shootout has become the second armed incident in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) this year.
Three men killed on November 29 have been identified as residents of Kabardino-Balkaria, born in 1987, 1996, and 1998, the TASS reports with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies. They had earlier criminal records and served their sentences in a penal colony, from where they were released in 2017-2018, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
According to a source, the killed men were members of a religious extremist cell, allegedly organized by a 31-year-old resident of the Nartan village.
