Ingush activists treat decision of Russian CC as political
The decision of the Russian Constitutional Court (CC), which has legitimized today the change of the Ingush-Chechen border, was made "for the sake of bureaucrats," the opponents of the agreement have stated, threatening the authorities with new protests and appeals to international structures.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the Russian CC has recognized the agreement on the Ingush-Chechen border, signed on October 26 by republic leaders, as compliant with the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
The signing on September 26 by Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov of the agreement on fixing the Chechen-Ingush border triggered mass protests, the participants of which demanded to bring the border issue to a referendum. On October 30, the Ingush CC found the republic's law on the border with Chechnya to be unconstitutional. Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of the republic, sent a request for verification of the agreement to the Russia's CC.
The CC's decision is political and creates a "dangerous precedent", Ruslan Mutsolgov, the head of the Ingush regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The decision was made to please bureaucrats; it destroys the federal structure of the country ... Because of this decision, all regions may suffer, including Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygea, Stavropol Territory and Dagestan," Mr Mutsolgov has stressed.
According to his story, opponents of the agreement will make use of "all legitimate measures to cancel the decision." "We reserve the right to hold rallies and appeal to international institutions," the head of the Ingush regional branch of the "Yabloko" Party has added.
The court made a "political decision", which will be appealed against at international instances, said Zakri Mamilov, an MP of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Ingushetia.
