"Beslan Mothers" point to contradictions in words of Putin and plenipotentiary

Members of the "Beslan Mothers" Committee want to meet Alexander Matovnikov, the President Putin's plenipotentiary envoy to the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), who has for the first time acknowledged the preparation for the assault of the school captured by terrorists in Beslan in 2004, Aneta Gadieva, a deputy chair of the "Beslan Mothers", has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 6 Mr Matovnikov admitted that the assault of the Beslan school, captured by terrorists, opposed by local residents, had been planned from the very beginning.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 people hostage in the Beslan School No. 1. The rescue operation was completed on September 3, 2004. The terror act killed 334 people, including 186 children. 810 people were injured.

Members of the "Beslan Mothers" Committee were surprised at Alexander Matovnikov's words about the pre-planned assault on the school and would like to meet him. Mr Matovnikov was the first official to make such a statement, and relatives of the perished hostages would like to talk to him, Aneta Gadieva, a deputy head of the "Beslan Mothers", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We are puzzled, although we, of course, understood that much is not being voiced to us. This is important, because until now, it hadn't been stated anywhere," said Gadieva, who was a hostage in School No. 1 with her two children herself and lost her daughter as a result of the terror act.

In the course of the trial, all the authorities stated that they had not prepared the assault; and President Putin also spoke about this during his personal meeting with the "Beslan Mothers".
