Ingush Council of Teips offers to solve the border issue with Chechnya according to Sharia law

On December 7, the Council of Teips (Clans) of the Ingush People suggested to the Chechen authorities to define the Ingush-Chechen administrative border with the help of the Sharia Court, emphasizing that the interrelations of the two nations depend on fixing the border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 6, the Russian Constitutional Court (CC), contrary to the earlier decision of the Ingush CC, recognized the legality of the agreement on the Chechen-Ingush administrative border, signed by the heads of the two republics.

On December 7, the YouTube service posted a video, in which Malsag Uzhakhov, the chairman of the Council of Teips of the Ingush People, read out, on behalf of his organization, the "Appeal to the leadership and people of the Chechen Republic", dedicated to the relationships of the Ingushes and Chechens. "Brothers never set borders; they offer us to give away lands and preserve the brotherhood. They will have to choose one of the two things – either land, or brotherhood. The choice is with the Chechen people," the statement says.

The Council believes that the problem could be promptly solved by the folk institutions, preserved by Chechens and Ingushes. "We have historians; we have the Sharia Court, which, on the basis of historians' materials, could decide, in the presence of scholars-Alims from other Caucasian or Arab republics. Let them define who owns these lands. The Ingush people will agree with such a decision."
