Armed incident in Nazran is the eighth since the start of the year in Ingushetia
The attack on employees of the "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) was the second clash of law enforcers with alleged militants in Nazran, and the eighth armed incident in the republic since the start of the year.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that an explosion occurred at the "Kovcheg" Shopping Centre in Nazran. Two law enforcers were hospitalized after an explosion of a grenade thrown at them during the detention of suspects, the Ingush MIA has reported. According to law enforcers, the attackers were militants; they were shot dead at detention. Eyewitnesses have reported that Khaniev, a seller of fragrances, and Muslim Khashagulgov, the security head of the shopping centre and a civil activist, were killed.
The previous armed clash occurred in Nazran on June 8. According to law enforcers, they blocked two militants, offered them to surrender, but they opened fire. In the shootout, one of the alleged militants was killed, and two others were killed during the counterterrorist operation (CTO), the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported then. Eyewitnesses reported that two guys and their mother were killed; while another alleged militants, their father, surrendered. The casualties had prepared terror acts on the Muslim holiday of Uraza Bayram, said the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov.
Earlier, on February 10, the CTO regime was also introduced in Ingushetia. According to law enforcers, Abdulla Askhabov and Yunus Ibadiev, natives of Dagestan, rendered armed resistance to law enforcers and were killed in the forest near the village of Ali-Yurt in the Nazran District.
Five more incidents in Ingushetia that happened since the start of the year were not associated with the activities of the armed underground.
