KChR resident complains about investigators dealing with torture case

Guzer Khashukaev, a resident of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), who had claimed being tortured after his detention, asked Russian authorities for help in the inquiry into his case. According to Khashukaev, the law enforcers, who had tortured him, continue working.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August this year, the 38-year-old resident of the KChR declared that employees of the Centre for Countering Extremism tortured him after his refusal to cooperate with law enforcers.

According to Khashukaev, he was detained on August 22 at the traffic police (GIBBD) post in the dwelling settlement of Oktiabrsky in the KChR.

"They put a mask over my head, took me to some unknown place destination and tortured me with the use of electric current," the appeal of Khashukaev has stated.

According to his story, law enforcers put a rubber helmet on his head, which caused unbearable pain. "They tried to knock out the testimonies they needed under torture," the resident of the KChR writes.

Mr Khashukaev has stated that for three and a half months he could not achieve justice; and all the suspects remained unpunished.
