Ingush disabled public activist achieves new check of scuffle with law enforcers

The Nalchik court has found investigators' refusal to prosecute the law enforcers, who applied physical force to Aslan Iritov, the head of the NGO "Svobodny Aul" (Free Village), and his relatives illegal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that investigators refused to open a case after Aslan Iritov and his daughter Angelica received traumas in a brawl with the law enforcers. His wife, Marina Iritova, had her finger broken, and his brother Beslan Iritov had a fractured rib.

Aslan (a disabled person who has no wrists) and his brother Beslan Iritov were accused of beating up policemen on October 31, 2017. On October 26, 2018, Beslan Iritov was sentenced to six months in prison.

As noted by Magomed Alamov, a lawyer of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT), rights defenders had tried to cancel the latest refusal to initiate a criminal case for five months.
