According to the information of the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources, recently, the CTO legal regime was introduced in Nalchik in June 2016. At 7:00 a.m. Moscow time on June 18, the CTO legal regime was announced in Nalchik, and a CTO was carried out at two addresses. According to law enforcers, a suspected militant cordoned off in a private house in Shota Rustaveli Street was killed during a shootout, and another suspected militant was detained at another address. No law enforcers or civilians were injured. The CTO legal regime was lifted three hours after it had been introduced.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the CTO became the first one within 14 months. Earlier, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the republic in December 2017: it was announced in the Urvan District on December 15 after law enforcers tried to stop a car and were wounded by a fire opened by people from the car. The National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported the elimination of one militant. The killed suspect was identified as Aslan Urusov, a 29-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to the law enforcement bodies, he was a supporter of "religious extremist ideology." On the other day, the CTO legal regime was lifted.
