Eight officials of Abkhazia and South Ossetia included in Ukraine's sanction list

The sanctions list compiled by Ukraine includes three citizens of Abkhazia and five citizens of South Ossetia who observed the elections in the Donbass in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR, respectively), which Kiev treats as illegal separatist entities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the Crimea's annexation to Russia, in the Donetsk and Lugansk Regions of Ukraine, clashes began to occur between law enforcers and supporters of the creation of the DNR and LNR. In connection with the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea to Russia, the USA and the EU imposed sanctions on Russian companies and officials.

Tamaz Gogiya, the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Abkhazia, Almaskhan Ardzinba, a member of the Abkhazian parliament, and Oleg Arshba, the special envoy of the Abkhazian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), were included in the Ukraine's sanction list imposed on March 20.

In total, the Ukraine's sanction list includes 294 legal entities and 848 individuals, including citizens of Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Greece, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, and Hungary. The Council of National Security of Ukraine suggested that the above people and companies were involved in the construction of the Crimean Bridge, the holding of the elections in the Donbass, and the incident in the Kerch Strait.
